Dear Friends,
Warm wishes on World Book and Copyright Day 2025!
On this April 23rd, we celebrate World Book and Copyright Day, also known as International Book Day—a tribute to the power of books, the value of literature, and the enduring impact of the written word on humanity.
This year’s theme, “The role of literature in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” reminds us that books are more than sources of knowledge and imagination—they are agents of change. Literature nurtures empathy, promotes understanding, and inspires action. It brings global issues into focus and offers the wisdom and courage needed to address them.
From climate action to quality education, gender equality to peace and justice, literature gives voice to the hopes and challenges of people around the world. By fostering inclusive dialogue and lifelong learning, books play a powerful role in building a sustainable and equitable future.
On this special day, we also honor the creators—authors, poets, illustrators, publishers, and translators—who bring stories to life and preserve cultural identities. Copyright ensures their work is respected, protected, and shared responsibly, enabling literature to flourish across borders and generations.
Let us reaffirm our commitment to reading, writing, and protecting intellectual and creative freedom. Let us celebrate books not just as stories, but as bridges—to each other, and to a better world.
Together, let’s read, reflect, and rise—to shape a future inspired by words, wisdom, and wonder.
With best regards,
Prof. (Dr.) Amit Kumar Tiwari & Elvira Volkova
